January 12, 2021 — The Chamber of Marine Commerce, representing Canada’s ‘home-town’ shipping fleet, its key shippers, ports and suppliers, would like to welcome Omar Alghabra as the new federal Minister of Transport.
Bruce Burrows, President and CEO of the Chamber of Marine Commerce, said: “The industry is looking forward to working with Mr. Alghabra on the marine sector’s green agenda, while ensuring the country’s economic trading objectives through the important Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River gateway are also addressed.”
“We intend to advance our Marine Economic Recovery Plan and collaborate closely with the Minister and his team on addressing the policy priorities and outstanding regulatory challenges, in particular around ballast water management, pilotage and governance of high water matters in the St. Lawrence Seaway.”
